About the project
One Step is a mobile wellness and habit-tracking platform designed to help users take small, mindful actions toward personal growth. The project focused on creating an intuitive app experience that encourages consistency through simplicity and emotion-driven design. From color psychology to micro-interactions, every element was crafted to inspire calmness, motivation, and progress without overwhelming the user.
Problems
The original One Step app had a cluttered interface that made habit tracking feel complex rather than motivating. Users struggled to navigate between features, and engagement dropped after the first week of usage. The visual design lacked emotional connection, relying on generic icons and muted colors that didn’t align with the app’s purpose of mindfulness and self-improvement. Additionally, onboarding was overly functional and failed to convey a sense of encouragement, which affected user retention.
Solutions
To resolve these challenges, a complete UX redesign was undertaken, focusing on clarity, motivation, and emotional tone. The new interface introduced soft gradients, organic shapes, and a soothing color palette that evokes trust and calmness. Key features were reorganized into a minimalist layout emphasizing one primary action per screen, helping users focus on progress over perfection. The onboarding flow was reimagined as a guided, story-like experience using personalized messages and motion to build connection from the first interaction. Custom illustrations and subtle animations brought warmth to the interface, transforming One Step into a daily companion that motivates users to take meaningful actions—one step at a time.
